UPDATES
First, some quick announcements... ** Thanks to all who gave goods or donated money as part of our collection for the troops overseas. We were able to be part of the great work of the National Society of Colonial Dames of America, and that organization successfully put together 38 large boxes for the donation! If you missed your chance to chip in but are still eager to help, let us know. ** The Republican Party of Florida is looking for interns, and the application to be considered is online. You can check it out here. https://adobeformscentral.com/?f=DLZsQHej8-OFKhfq8mFeQw# If you have any questions, you can also contact Danielle Alvarez, South Florida regional director for the RPOF, at

** If you can make it out, this Thursday, May 2 beginning at noon there is a local observance of the National Day of Prayer. Guests will include Representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Coral Gables Mayor Jim Cason. The event will be part of the annual nationwide ceremony in which people from all over are invited to come together to ask for blessings, inspiration and protection for our nation. The local community event for the National Day of Prayer will take place at Merrick Park directly next to Coral Gables City Hall (not to be confused with the Village of Merrick Park shopping mall, which is further south)
CLUB ELECTIONS
Our club elections will take place at our Tuesday, July 23 meeting. Why point this out so early? Because if you wish to run for a Miami Young Republicans office, you must attend the three consecutive meetings up to and including the election. That means our Tuesday, May 28 and Tuesday June 25 meetings as well as election day. All positions are up this summer --- President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer as well as director positions (Special Projects & Outreach, Social, Public Relations, Fundraising, Political Activities, Club Development and At-Large). Cabinet positions are two years, director positions are one. I have already announced publicly that after four years, two full terms, as president I will not be seeking re-election to lead the Miami Young Republicans. I have thoroughly enjoyed being able to lead the organization and watching it grow, and look forward to continuing to serve as chairman and past president. However, it's time for a fresh face. Ask yourself...
- Do you, deep in your heart, want to be part of leading the 2012 FFYR Large Club of the Year, a strong grassroots organization with more than 30 years of history and great potential for local activism?
- Do you want to pick up the charge of reinvigorating our College Republicans, introducing social media into the local Republican operations, and furthering the discussion of what the GOP must stand for in order to win?
- Will you commit to direct your efforts and your energy to grow the party and the club?
If you think these are all you, and you're "in it for the long haul", Miami YRs executive board might be right for you. If you have any questions about eligibility (BTW you must also be between 18 and 41 years of age), or if you just want more information, please email us at
