April News

Hi all, I hope your April has started well --- whether you're celebrating Easter, Passover, spring break, or just this beautiful weather... we have a few upcoming opportunities you may want to add to your calendar.

Monday, April 5 you can meet Rudy Giuliani and Marco Rubio at a free event here in Miami, where the former mayor will be announcing his support for Rubio's US Senate campaign.  The event runs from 10:30 am - 12:30 pm at the Renaissance at the Gables (2340 SW 32nd Avenue).  If you're interested in attending, visit http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=114430641905919&ref=nf for details.

March News

Three upcoming events that you may want to check out...

This Friday, at 4:00 pm, US Senate candidate Marco Rubio speaks at the Renaissance at the Gables (5910 SW 8th street). The event is free and open to the public. We are co-sponsoring this event as part of our ongoing efforts to engage in dialogues with the top candidates and leaders!

South Florida Conservative is organizing a special tea party to protest "Obamacare".  Come out to the corner of LeJeune and Coral Way beginning at 11:00 am this Saturday.  Be there with your (clean and clever) signs!   For more information, visit http://www.sflaconservative.com.

For the Miami Young Republicans, our next big event is our March general meeting, which takes place Tuesday, March 23 at the Sports Exchange (45 Miracle Mile). We're going to be hosting a discussion on the new "Game Plan" for the Republican party's return to victory.

We're calling it our "Game Plan" because our special guest will be Marvin Jones. A Miami native, an FSU Hall-of Famer and a long time New York Jet linebacker, Mr. Jones is now a philanthropist and an entrepreneur. He will lead our discussion as we look at the party's record of minority outreach, the Obama campaign, and how we can proceed.

We'll start with the usual happy hour at 6:30 and move into the reserved room at 7:30. If you can join us, please RSVP at http://www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?eid=368412238076&ref=ts so we can let the restaurant know how many to expect. Please only confirm if you WILL attend!

Hope to see you at an upcoming event!

February Meeting

Thanks to all who came out to our February meeting, we had another huge crowd!  Those who joined us got to meet candidates at the local, state and federal level and were even treated to a special "leak" of this week's big news, David Rivera's official entry into the race for U.S. House.

Lots of big events coming up, including a Saturday, March 13 social with the Broward and Palm Beach YRs, a day out on the bay, with U.S. House candidate Robert Lowry!  Watch www.miamiyoungrepublicans.com for more information, as well as many, many opportunities to get involved with campaigns.

Our social director and past president, Richard Webster, has organized an event for Wednesday, 3/10 at the Sports Exchange that looks to be an interesting and thought-provoking discussion with a national conservative blogger and author… the invitation follows:

Eric Golub will be making a special presentation to the Miami Young Republicans on Wednesday, March 10th at the Sports Exchange, 45 Miracle Mile, Coral Gables.  Eric is an accomplished author of the book Ideological Bigotry.

Ideological Bigotry is the hatred of people based on their political views. It is just as harmful as racial or ethnic bigotry, but gets less attention.

Eric is also a Jewish Republican blogger and public speaker.  Eric has spoken at the National YR convention in Indianapolis.  He has spoken to the California YR state convention as well as to Ian Meyeroff's Arlington, VA chapter.  His Web site is http://www.tygrrrrexpress.com.  You can also view his profile at http://bighollywood.breitbart.com/author/egolub/.

Eric's fiery presentation will provoke passion, but in a light-hearted way!

Don't miss this very special Miami YRs presentation.  The happy hour starts at 7pm and Eric will begin around 8pm.  Let’s give this California native a big Florida welcome.

You won't want to miss it!
