The last few weeks have been a whirlwind for the Biscayne Bay Young Republicans, the YR chapter for Miami-Dade county. Our June meeting featured state representative Anitere Flores, candidate for state senate district 38 and club alumna. Rep. Flores was generous with her time and candid in discussing the state’s situation as well as the outlook for her upcoming race.
Other recent BBYR activities included supporting the Healthcare Tea Party in Coral Gables, where hundreds turned out to make sure conservative voices are heard loud and clear. We also joined in a huge 4th of July blowout in South Miami, celebrating our nation’s founding. Special thanks to Brad and Lucy Hanafourde for opening their home to us!
The July meeting is set for Tuesday, July 28 beginning at 6:30 pm. Watch this space for location, speakers, etc. The next meeting will include the club’s annual elections --- this year every position is up. Those interested in throwing their hat in the ring should check out the club charter to see what positions are available and how you can get involved.
As a reminder, the BBYR golf shirts are available at www.cafepress.com/bbyr
