After a massive deficit run by Mayor Daniella Levine Cava that has put Miami-Dade County in a budget crisis, the Miami Young Republicans have formally submitted a letter to Governor Ron DeSantis and CFO Blaise Ingoglia requesting Florida’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to conduct a full audit of county operations 🔍.
Miami-Dade County faces its most severe budget shortfall since the 2008 recession, with a projected deficit of roughly $400 million for the upcoming fiscal year and almost $2 billion in projected deficits during the next decade. These issues are particularly concerning given the county’s more than $1.1 billion increase in property tax collections since 2020, and more than 40% increase in spending in just four years 🚨.
With concerns over DEI funding, fiscal transparency, potential wasteful spending, and administrative inefficiencies, this proactive step reflects our commitment to accountable local government and responsible use of taxpayer dollars ✅.
