MIAMI, FLORIDA - The Miami Young Republicans today responded to President Donald J. Trump’s announcement regarding the capture of Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro in a coordinated U.S. operation alongside law enforcement, calling it a historic step toward ending decades of socialist tyranny in Venezuela.
“After years of brutal oppression, corruption, and the starvation of millions, Nicolás Maduro’s reign of terror is finally coming to an end. For too long, dictators like Maduro have brutalized their own citizens while the world looked the other way. Today, thanks to President Trump’s leadership, the Venezuelan people have renewed reason to hope for freedom, justice, and accountability.” - Miguel Granda, President of the Miami Young Republicans
South Florida is home to one of the largest Venezuelan exile communities in the world—families who escaped socialism, political persecution, and economic collapse in search of liberty. The Miami Young Republicans stand unequivocally with these communities and with all efforts that seek to hold tyrants accountable for the devastation they have inflicted upon their nations.
“President Trump has never wavered in calling Maduro what he is—a criminal dictator. The days of socialist tyrants operating with impunity must come to an end. President Trump is setting the standard for confronting evil abroad, defending freedom, and putting America First. - Armando Ibarra, Chairman of the Miami Young Republicans.
The Miami Young Republicans remain committed to defending liberty, opposing socialism, and supporting policies that advance freedom, democracy, and accountability throughout the Western Hemisphere.
